Mahira Khan Spends World Mental Health Day at Drug Rehab Center for Women and Kids

The star heard the heart-wrenching stories of the victims on the world mental health day.

Superstar Mahira Khan spent World Mental Health Day (10 October) at the Alleviate Addiction Suffering (AAS) rehabilitation center to spread awareness with the aim to help remove the stigma and shame attached to mental illness.

The Hum Kahan Kay Sachy Thay starlet listened to the gut-wrenching stories of small children about what led them to their addictions and how they had been fighting their battles.

She shared some glimpses of her visit with a heartfelt caption.

Mahira Khan is the face of many social causes and is one of the few celebrities who use their influence to support a change in society. She was appointed as an ambassador for the British Asian Trust earlier this year. With a global fan base of millions, Mahir Khan is passionate about social issues and is an inspiration to women and girls worldwide.

She is also a part of the trust’s ‘Peace of Mind’ campaign which aims to create awareness of mental health issues and stigmas.

Upon becoming an ambassador for social causes, the actress, who is also a mother, said, “I am proud to come on board as one of the official ambassadors for the British Asian Trust for their work In South Asia. Even prouder, to be able to spread awareness about mental health with their campaign ‘Peace of Mind’ in Pakistan”.

She has time and again urged her followers to learn about mental health issues and stop treating them as taboos.

In 2019, the Bol star was also appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR.
