Nobel laureate and Joyland executive producer, Malala Yousafzai attended the 2023 Oscars luncheon on Monday.
Malala Yousafzai and the other final nominees mingled with the who’s who of Hollywood ahead of the 95th Academy Awards ceremony. The Pakistani activist shared glimpses from the event on social media, including her meeting with Top Gun star Tom Cruise.
The young Nobel Prize laureate dressed up in a traditional light pink embroidered ensemble from designer Sana Maskatiya’s collection. Malala completed her look with a pair of ivory heels.
The young Nobel laureate shared pictures from the event on her Instagram. She told a reporter at the event that her encounter with the Top Gun star was “surreal” and said, “I’ve seen him on the screen and now I’m seeing him in person.”
Malala also met filmmaker Joshua Seftel whose documentary, Strangers at the Gate, about a US Marine veteran who plotted to blow up a mosque in his hometown, is also one of the final nominees at 2023 Oscars. The Pakistani activist gave the team behind Strangers at the Gate a shoutout on her Instagram.
Malala wrote,
An amazing day at the Oscars luncheon with the incredible, hard-working team behind Strangers at the Gate director Joshua Seftel, Conall Jones, and Smartypants Pictures. I am grateful and honored to be in the room with all of this year’s nominees 🤩 I haven’t stopped talking about how I met Tom Cruise.
She also met the team behind the hit sci-fi film Everything Everywhere All At Once.
The 2023 Oscars are set to take place on 13th March this year in USA.
