Will the PML-N Vice make it to the nikkah?

Maryam Nawaz's son - Junaid Safdar

Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar is getting married later this month. In a series of tweets, Maryam broke the news stating that she “will not make any request” to the government to seek permission to travel abroad on the occasion.

Junaid Safdar has been arranged to marry former politician Saif-ur-Rehman’s daughter, Aisha Saif. According to Maryam Nawaz’s tweet the wedding date has been set for August 22nd.

The ceremony will be held in London. That creates a major snag in the festivities. Maryam Nawaz has been placed on the exit control list (ECL). Since she cannot leave the country, she won’t be attending her own son’s wedding.

Word is that for now, they’re only organizing a nikkah for Junaid Safdar and Aisha Saif. The two have been rumored to be dating since last year.

Express News reported that ex-prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif had picked the Senator’s daughter for his grandson. This news was initially broken by noted journalist Sohail Warraich.

We’re potentially looking at the heirs to the PML-N political dynasty here. Since Maryam Nawaz has already taken over her father’s party, it’s only expected that Junaid Safdar will be next in line for the position of party chief.

What does that mean for Aisha Saif, a young woman hailing from a political family too? Are we looking at a young power couple?

About Saif-ur-Rehman

The Senator served as chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) between 1997-99 during the second term of then-premier Nawaz Sharif. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) blamed him for opening corruption cases against its leadership.

Senator Saif-ur-Rehman is also one of Nawaz Sharif’s close associates. He is also wanted on charges of torturing and prosecuting political opponents.
