In a recent turn of events, Meera Jee is set to be ‘handed off’ to her husband. As per her mother, she has accepted the court verdict and will arrange a ‘Rukhsati’ for her daughter.
The film star’s mother Shafqat Begum posted a video stating that she accepts the court’s verdict. Hence she’s agreeing to ‘handover’ the Kasak actress to Atiq-ur-Rehman.
“It’s God’s will and the court has passed the verdict that Meera is still Atiq-ur-Rehman’s wife till now.”
She announced to arrange a Rukhsati ceremony for her daughter and Atiq-ur-Rehman Shafqat Begum even announced that she would assist in mediating reconciliation between the Nazar actress and Atiq–ur-Rehman.
Meera vs Atiq-ur-Rehman
For years now Atiq-ur-Rehman has been arguing that he is legally married to the Baaji star. However, she has repeatedly denied this.
Yet now a session court ruled that she is indeed legally married to Atiq-ur-Rehman. Additionally, the court rejected the starlet’s appeal to deny the ruling over her marriage.
Additional Sessions Judge Mazhar Abbas had declared that the nikkahnama [marriage contract] presented by Atiq-ur-Rehman is authentic. Therefore, the actress is still legally married to Atiq.
However, Meera, whose real name is Irtiza Rubab maintains that Atiq drafted a fake marriage contract and that they were never legally married.
“I’m not Atique-ur-Rehman’s wife. He made a fake marriage contract.”
It is pertinent to mention that Atiq accused Meera of entering into another marriage contract with Captain Naveed in 2013 while still being married to him.
Now that the session court has ruled in his favor, Meera might be looking at criminal charges in regards to being in two marriage contracts simultaneously.
