Despite being a movie star, Meera has had her fair share of rejections. The actress teared up talking about rejections even now.
In her recent interview for Gloss Etc, the Baaji star opened up about her struggles as an actor. Talking about a recent project that she didn’t, she said,
“I had been in talks with Barkat Siddiqui for a drama for HUM TV, … We had discussed the character at length, and in my mind, I had sorted out dates and scheduling. For one month, we went back and forth with discussions, and then, suddenly, Barkat Siddiqui told me that the channel didn’t want me on board. If they didn’t want to cast me, why did they waste so much of my time?”
Meera was in talks with Hum TV for the drama serial Lekin. While talking about the project, she said that they didn’t sign the contract. Though the director discussed the script and each and everything with her in detail and ended up telling her that she’s not fit for the role or channel didn’t want her on board.
She even alleged that channels deliberately toy with the feelings of actors with the intent of causing distress.
“Do channels want the actors to get crazy and commit suicide?”
The Parey Hut Love actress further shared that this has happened a lot. Previously the movie star wasn’t given a Ramadan show.
In the past, she had shared how Baaji came to her when she was helpless.
“Pyasay ko paani mill gaya, … It was the kind of movie that I had been waiting for.”
The film was a success but the pandemic had stalled film production. Additionally, her PR team is not giving her access to her social media accounts. Meera felt helpless and upset.
“Moreover, my social media accounts have been taken over by PR people who are now refusing to give me the passwords. I feel so stuck. And these channel politics leave me feeling helpless.”
The shooting for Hum TV’s drama Lekin is in the pipeline starring Alizeh Shah as the lead.
