Men Can Now Buy ‘Muslim Glasses’ To Help Them ‘Lower the Gaze’

A Islamic e-store has unique tinted glasses in stock to potentially help prevent ‘haram gazing’

While South Asia is often fixated on dictating what women should wear, Muslim men ought to know better. The Quran advised men to observe ‘parda‘ first by lowering their gaze.

Lo and behold! An e-store Maktaba-tul-Madina is selling ‘Muslim glasses’ to help with that.

“Tell the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for them; Surely Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.” (Quran 24:30).

Lowering the gaze, in Islamic terminology or exercising modesty refers to a number of things. Like, eyeing up someone’s assets, staring at the beauty of non-mahram women, keeping an eye on the wealth of others, and peeping inside the houses of neighbors.

How hard can that be? Apparently, it’s so difficult someone devised tinted glasses to help obscure a fellow Muslim’s vision and help a brother out.

Muslim glasses AKA ‘Qufl-e-Madina’ glasses

Named ‘Qufl-e-Madina’, these glasses only focus on the lower half. Apparently, they were invented to help men get into the habit of refraining from ‘haram’ gazing.

Introduced by Maktaba-tul-Madinah’s online store, these are not just any tinted glasses. Only the top half of these glasses are tinted requiring the wearer to lower their gaze to see in front of themselves.

In a way, it directs the focus of the gaze in a way to prevent staring. Kind of like blinkers/blinders for racehorses?

Aside from the Muslim glasses, e-Store Maktaba-tul-Madinah stocks a wide range of Islamic products such as books, magazines, flags, and etc.

With Ramzan, Muslims must make a better effort to abstain from such things. In Pakistan where women are leered at even with full-face coverings, these Muslim glasses could actually work?

Others think this is the worst invention from the Muslim world to date.
