A photograph of a large mansion is making rounds on social media. The picture is supposed to be of “Imran Khan’s house in Bani Gala”. Turns out it’s not his mansion at all.
Whoever posted the photograph is making false claims. That is not the Pakistani Prime Minister’s private residence in Bani Gala.
The image actually features an estate in the United States owned by the late shoe designer Vince Camuto.

Anatomy of a Fake News
It seems that this viral news first started making the rounds on Facebook, seeping over onto Twitter. One said misleading Facebook post was shared on May 28, 2019.
It was shared over a 100 times and is captioned, “Imran Khan’s house in Bani Gala”.
The post adds in Urdu;
“Pakistan duniya ka wahid mulk hai jahan chanda daine wale 2 marla kay makan mein, jabk chanda lainey wala 400 kanal k mahal mein rehta hai, (Pakistan is the only country in the world where those who donate money live in a 2 marla house, while the one who takes donations lives in 400 kanal palace).”
Calling Out False Claims
According to Forbes magazine though, that estate belongs to the late shoe designer Vince Camuto.
The Villa Maria is located in The Hamptons, a wealthy part of Long Island in the United States state of New York.
It’s safe to say that Forbes verified their information before publishing the picture of the 72 million dollar estate in Water Mill.
Vince Camuto’s Villa Maria
The estate was sold in 2018 in two separate transactions. One buyer paid about 36 million dollars for the main house and an adjacent parcel of land, comprising a total of about 11 acres.
While the other buyer paid about 13 million dollars for a couple of other parcels of land attached to the property.
Villa Maria has 11 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, as well as a separate powder room. The master suite alone has six rooms.

It features heated limestone floors, a three-story spiraling staircase, a library with a domed atrium, an adjacent carriage house, a spa and a media loft with a fireplace and a cathedral ceiling.

tennis court, and a two-bedroom guest house or cottage house.
Villa Maria also enjoys 1,100 feet of waterfront on Mecox Bay.
