Best Pakistani actors comebacks to small screen

From time to time, we see actors come and go from our television screens. Sometimes, we often have the pleasure of seeing old favorites return. Whether these Pakistani actors make a good or bad landing at the TV screen, that is another story altogether.

Picking the right time to return is crucial for comeback artists as it determines their future success. Even if the time is right, signing the wrong project can tarnish the rapport an artist has built over the years (looking at you here Sahir Lodhi’s 2018 morning show).

On the other hand, well-timed returns with the right project, like Nadia Khan’s return to the small screen with ‘Zun Mureed‘ in 2018 after the 17 years, have turned out beautifully.

Whether these celebrities left for downtime or over creative differences, we take a look at the best Pakistani artists’ comebacks on the small screen.

1. Humayun Saeed

As a producer, Bin Roye actor Humayun Saeed knew Mere Paas Tum Ho was the right project for him to step back into the small screen.

Since he does have a film London Nahi Jaungi slated for 2020, a blockbuster drama would only add to his appeal. He successfully gained a tween and teen audience with his performance in MPTH.

He was last seen on the small screen in drama serial Dillagi back in 2016. Back then he made sure that he cashed in on Dillagi’s popularity by making a film Punjab Nahi Jaungi right after the drama went on air.

2. Mehwish Hayat

Ever since Ye Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Mehwish Hayat has been delivering a hit film every year. When she had some time on her hands in 2016 before Punjab Nahi Jaungi, she broadened her audience with Dillagi.

Suffice to say, it was a successful comeback.

2. Hamza Ali Abbasi

With only a few dramas to his name, Hamza Ali Abbasi has plenty of star power. Since his debut in Pyare Afzal, the actor has always picked his projects carefully. Mann Mayal (2016) marked the actor’s hiatus from the small screen with a not so good after-taste.

Since then, the Waar actor returned to the small screen with Alif. The fact that Alif was his last commercial venture is another story.

4. Ayeza Khan

After delivering hits like Mere Mehrban and Pyarey Afzal, actress Ayeza Khan bid adieu to the biz. At the time she wanted to focus on being a full-time mother. Now that her kids are older, Ayeza made her comeback with Koi Chand Rakh and Yaariyan.

Since then the actress has picked up a knack for playing a character in a love triangle with Mere Paas Tum Ho and Thora Sa Haq.

5. Adeel Hussain

This actor snagged an instant fanbase with his performance in Daam. Later his acting in Mata-e-Jaan Hei Tu just added to his fame. Shortly afterward Adeel Hussain crossed over to films with Ho Mann Jahaan and Dobara Phir Se.

Since then, he was nowhere to be seen until his comeback to drama with Daasi. The drama serial is a meek return compared to his previous hits. But he’s getting there.

6. Hania Amir

After drama serials like Phir Wohi Mohabbat and Visaal, it seemed as though Hania Amir had gone back to her film roots. Between 2017-2019, all Hania was working on was films.

With Na Maloom Afraad 2 and Parwaaz Hai Junoon, people wondered if she’d ever return to the small screen. Then in late 2019, the actress made a splash with drama serial Anaa.
