Pakistani Animated Movie “Allahyar and The Legend of Markhor” is Now On Netflix

Still can’t wait for Pakistani Netflix originals!

Netflix has started streaming Pakistani movies Allahyar and The Legend of Markhor and Cake.

Children’s animation Allahyar and The Legend of Markhor really set a benchmark for animated visuals in Pakistan. Although this was not Pakistan’s first animated film, the quality of animation and visuals were a nice step up.

Besides the stunning visuals, Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor has everything a good children’s film should have. It featured a fun storyline without loopholes (kids are better at pointing them out, with all their questions). The plot is lined with little moral lessons along the way.

For adults that haven’t seen the film, if the striking visuals are not enough, seeing the beauty of Pakistan’s North come alive in this quirky animated feature is definitely worth your time.

Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor is set in the northern regions of Pakistan.

Besides being loaded with little morals lessons along the way, the main message in the story is about wildlife conservation.

Green habits are best introduced young, otherwise, there won’t be many resources for generations to come.  Wildlife preservation is a topic rarely touched in movies, in general. This was really Pakistan’s first movie to really breach the subject.

Big Waves at the Box Office

The movie stayed in theaters more than past the standard 3 weeks mark due to its popularity. The film surpassed 3 Bahadur series’ records, earning around Rs 2.18 crores on the opening weekend.

Written and directed by Uzair Zaheer Khan, Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor follows the story of  a spirited boy called Allahyar who teams up with a Markhor, a snow leopard named Chakku and a ‘Chakor‘ (Chukkar Patridge, Pakistan’s national bird) called Hero.

Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor cast Anum Zaidi to voice Allahyar,  Natasha Humera Ejaz as the Markhor, Abdul Nabi Jamali as Chakku, and Azfar Jafri as Hero.

None other than legendary singer Ali Noor voiced the antagonist, a poacher named Mani.

The movie has some great music too. Particularly the title track ‘Allah Allah Bol‘ produced by Ali Noor himself.

While we’re excited to see blockbusters like Allahyar and The Legend of Markhor streaming on Netflix, we’re still looking forward to Pakistani Netflix Originals.
