With the recent increase in ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC) and Indian Armed Forces’ brutality in Kashmir, Pakistanis are understandably outraged and devastated. Recently Indian Home Minister Amit Shah revoked Article 35 A and Article 370 of the Indian constitution that recognized the special status of Kashmir, leading many to believe that a move is afoot to change the region’s demography.
India has also deployed thousands of more troops in Kashmir, and arrested all major leaders there. This will only add to the pre-exisiting human rights violations committed by the world’s largest democracy.
Pakistani Celebrities Speak Against India’s Highhandedness
Amid all this, Pakistani celebs have been particularly vocal. Actors like Shaan Shahid are always at the forefront of such trends. Artists using their platform for political awareness is appreciated when its done for peace.
Here’s what Pakistani stars are saying about recent happenings:

Taghma-e-Imtiaz holder Mehwish Hayat was one of the first to voice disdain on Indian human rights atrocities in Kashmir. She also highlighted the alleged use of cluster bombs by India in cross-border attacks. The production, trade, and use of cluster bombs remain outlawed by International law, ever since 2008.
The use of cluster bombs in Kashmir is in clear violation of the Geneva Convention. There is no justification for it whatsoever. These are simple war crimes – the world has to wake up and put a stop to these atrocities NOW! #SaveKashmirSOS #KashmirBleeds

While Pakistani celebs are using their platforms to get the word out on Indian human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, the global community is largely silent. Foreign media did not shy away from reporting how Indians have now made Jammu and Kashmir a ‘constitutional Indian Territory’ despite its disputed status. There was no mention of human rights abuses, and deployment of additional Indian troops in the area following the move.
