Peshawar’s BRT Service Finally Hits the Road [Video]

Was the wait worth it?

Finally, the wait is over. The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project has finally been opened for the public in Peshawar. The bus transit system is finally facilitating the public after facing so many delays.

Looks like the wait was worth it. For a group of madrassah students, it surely is. Muhammad Tayyab and his friends can now commute from Hayatabad to their Chamkani madrassah in Maskeenabad.

The young boy shared how hard it was to commute to and from the madrassah every day, but finally, the provincial government came through by completing the BRT project.

With the autonomy of the provincial governments ever since the 18th amendment, it’s great to see someone use that jurisdiction for good measure.

BRT Vs Metro Bus

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s BRT Project is supposed to be distinct from the Metro Bus Transit system in the twin cities and Lahore. BRT has some distinguishing features from the national transit project.

These features include multiple routes like international bus transits. Not to mention the bike-sharing service and bicycle path for cyclists. This fits right into PTI government’s green agenda.

Its not all smooth sailing though. Apparently people are already indulging in misdemeanors while using the transit system.
