PNCA Islamabad to Host 8th Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival

Its theme this year is ‘Saving Indus’.

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad will host the 8th Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival (PIMFF 2022) which will showcase mountain films from all around the world on 26 and 27 November.

The one-of-a-kind event that celebrates the art of filmmaking in Pakistan, and its theme this year is ‘Saving Indus’. The film screenings will also include a ‘panel talk’ on the theme by officials from the Living Indus initiative.

The platform is organized by Eyebex Films in partnership with PTV News, PTV films, Idea Workshop, and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Pakistan, with Ambassador de France au Pakistan.

The event will feature talented Pakistani filmmakers in the animation category as well that includes Sometimes Even The Shores Drown by Mahera Omar.

The film festival will also include a number of internationally acclaimed films including Pakistani films as well as documentaries like A Journey Through Preservation by filmmaker Safar Ali Danish from Quetta, The Color of Smog by Jawad Sharif, and Le Beric: The Story of Marginalized Maestros by Arslan Haider.

Filmmaker and PIMFF Chairman, Wajahat Malik, will also screen his feature documentary Jalavaan as well.

PIMFF founder, Chairman, and festival director, Wajahat Malik, is a travel and adventure enthusiast and television broadcaster. He is considered one of the pioneers of adventure filmmaking in Pakistan and founded the Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival in 2015 to help promote appreciation for mountain filmmaking in Pakistan and to highlight the alpine treasures in Pakistan.

Wajahat Malik is also the Managing Director of Eyebex Films, an Islamabad-based film production company.

The Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival (PIMFF) is the only event of its kind that celebrates the art of filmmaking in Pakistan. One of the only three mountain film festivals in Asia, the event holds international repute among the mountaineering and film community. It was conceived and founded by Wajahat Malik and Maryam Cheema in 2015.

The festival is organized by Eyebex Films.

The aim of the PIMFF is to bring together filmmakers and artists with mountaineers and adventure enthusiasts on a common platform of discourse and exchanging ideas, and this is precisely what it has achieved in the last four years.

The PIMFF continues to be an important global platform that promotes independent cinema in Pakistan, and encourages adventure and alpine activities.
