Pakistan Television (PTV) is likely to revive the nostalgic 90s show, Ainak Wala Jin soon. The play was telecast for almost a decade, from 1993 to 2002, and kept children glued to TV screens. It was also one of PTV’s prime programs and holds a very special place in Pakistan’s hearts even today.
Haseeb Pasha, who played the role of Hamoon Jadugar in it, told Dawn News, “I recently had a conversation with some PTV officials at the Lahore station and they expressed their desire to revive the show on the mini-screen”.
He said that the overwhelming memories of a whole generation were attached to this show as they had grown up watching it.
When asked why the popular series ended in 2002, Haseeb Pasha blamed a lack of interest by the producers and others in PTV.
He also stated that Hafeez Tahir was the creator, producer, and writer of this show and he had an immense interest in this production but no one had bothered to keep the show rolling after the latter’s retirement.
Haseeb Pasha said the revamped series was being prepared at Lahore’s Alhamra Arts Centre on The Mall, since February 2022, and a puppet theater was incorporated into the show a couple of weeks ago.
This puppet theater was introduced three decades ago by TV artiste and producer Samina Ahmed, who used to be the Deputy Director of Programs at the Lahore Arts Council.
The dual show of Ainak Wala Jin and Putli Tamasha is attracting large audiences, mostly children, who gather at Alhamra every Sunday to watch them.

The story revolved around a genie sent by the emperor of genies from the Caucasus Mountains to earth for the treatment of his eyesight problems. He starts living with humans and the interesting interaction with them starts. He meets magicians, witches, other genies, space people, and real-life characters. These interactions give birth to a very interesting storyline which entailed comedy, magic, morals, and learning for children
