PTV Will Start Airing Diriliş Ertuğrul in Ramzan

It’s finally happening! Pakistan Television (PTV) is airing the Urdu dubbed version of ‘Diriliş: Ertuğrul‘ or ‘Ertugrul Ghazi‘ as it has been titled in Urdu.

Over the weekend PTV shared a teaser of the Turkish period drama. Immediately audiences anticipated that we would all be seeing the Urdu-dubbed version on screen sooner than we expected.

This stirred up excitement as fans wanted to know when PTV will start to air. Before the end of the weekend, we had our answer.

PTV released a full trailer while revealing the Urdu dubbed version of Ertugrul Ghazi will be aired starting at 9:00 p.m on 1st Ramadan.

According to the state broadcaster, the Urdu dubbed version of Diriliş: Ertuğrul is being aired on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

While the rest of the world already discovered this Turkish masterpiece when it was available with English subtitles, we can finally enjoy it in Urdu. The series was dubbed ‘Turkish Game of Thrones‘ when it became popular worldwide.

Fans of the Turkish-Muslim Odessey are revealed that the project is finally hitting screens. Previously it was feared that it would be abandoned mid-way.

Comments from the voice-artist, who had earlier stated that she had been selected for the dubbing of ‘Hymana‘, didn’t help the situation either. She had asserted that the drama will not hit screens any time soon, or at all in 2020.

There were even rumors that the project had been shelved and might be handed to a private television channel for dubbing. Similar to what we’ve seen with state projects like Janbaaz and Ehd-e-Wafa be aired by private television networks.

Season 1 of Diriliş: Ertuğrul had already been aired by a private network with Urdu dubbing. Yet since PTV has now paid for exclusive distribution rights of all seasons of the Turkish period drama, and it is only fair that PTV is the sole broadcaster of the Urdu dubbed version.

PTV reportedly obtained the broadcast rights for all five seasons of the series from the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).

Have been waiting for ages for this. I have watched it in poorly dubbed urdu (S01 only) and with English subtitles. But official dub should be interesting. Please release a trailer so that we can get a hang of how well it is dubbed.

The majority of Pakistan’s rural population does not have access to cable television or satellite TV. They rely on PTV for entertainment and this is a great initiative for them.
