Famous Sri Lankan cricket commentator Russel Arnold has become a fan of Karachi’s biryani.
The former cricketer is currently in Karachi with the ICC’s official commentators’ team for the second Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
For the love of Biryani
Russel took to Twitter to share his love for biryani, declaring the port city as the ‘Biryani Capital’ of the world.
“Great to be back in Karachi. I am told it is the biryani capital of the world? True,” the 46-year-old tweeted.

His tweets were well received by cricket fans across the world. While some agreed with his idea, others suggested him to taste the Dhaka and Hyderabadi biryanis as well.

Not the capital. It is the Biryani country on its own. Rest are only wannabees.

Unsatisfied with a single plate, Russel even hit an extra session in the gym to make room for some more biryani.

The notion was also followed by renowned Sri Lanka’s sports journalist Andrew Fidel Fernando.
In Karachi. Bit envious this city calls itself the biryani capital of the world, when by rights that honour should go to my face. pic.twitter.com/M3nKeEFPdw

The arrival of Sri Lankan cricket has marked the return of Test cricket in Pakistan. With the first Test match in Rawalpindi being washed out by rain, all eyes are now on the Karachi Test, which will decide the series.
The match will be played from December 19 (Thursday) to December 23 (Monday) at the National Stadium, Karachi.
