Indian tennis star Sania Mirza announced her retirement earlier this month, confirming she will be retiring from professional tennis after an event in the UAE. The 36-year-old planned to retire at the end of 2023 but an elbow injury ended her career early.
Before saying farewell to the court, she will play in WTA final in Dubai in February. She is currently playing at the Australian Open, the season’s first grand slam in mixed doubles with fellow Indian Rohan Bopana.
The Indian tennis pair beat the USA pair in a super tie-breaker after a hard-fought semi-final match and proudly reached the finals. At the end of the match, she hugged her son Izhaan Mirza Malik and made the audience swoon over this emotional moment.
