Shahrukh Khan’s University Gets Attacked By Police and He’s Still Silent

Massive protests in India against the Citizenship Bill continue.

Shahrukh Khan

Protests surfaced all over India, following their Parliament’s decision to pass the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019. Students from the Jamia Milia Islamia University held one of the biggest protests in Delhi over the move to outlaw Muslim immigrants to India.

So far six people were killed in clashes between police and protesters in various parts of the city. While some Bollywood celebs decided to use their platform to address the issue, Bollywood’s Badshah Shahrukh Khan remains silent.

This is deeply concerning because as a Muslim, Shahrukh Khan is not just tight-lipped about CAB 2019 and the protests, he is also a graduate of Jamia Milia Islamia University.

Scenes like this were witnessed in Delhi:

A Black Law

People fear that CAB 2019 which grants non-Muslim migrants from three Muslim-majority countries to citizenship if they moved to India ill 2014, is actually the government’s attempt to further drive down Muslim numbers.

Protests continue for over five days since the lower house of Parliament passed the CAB, 2019. The peaceful protest by students were marred with violence and police resorted to the use of tear gas.

It is said that students pelted police with stones, but it is still unclear who started the violence.

According to the BBC, some police officers admitted that local troublemakers sparked the clashes.

Yet, police still forced their way into the Jamia Milia Islamia University campus in southern Delhi and assaulted staff and students. They had no permission or authority to do so.

Police said their actions were necessary to stop the protests.

Schools near the university in southern Delhi have been asked to remain closed on Monday.

India in the midst of protests

Meanwhile, demonstrators in West Bengal blocked key national highways while in Assam. Assam has strongly opposed the CAB since the idea was proposed. The citizens of this state had previously faced the horrors of the National Citizenship Registry Act 1971.

The NCR discriminated against Bengali Muslims, granted citizenship to Bengali Hindus and drove down the number of Assamese speakers. That’s why even celebrities are opposed to the CAB 2019.

Particularly with King Khan being a Jamia University alum.

Undoubtedly, these are dark days for a Muslim in India. Will Muslim Bollywood actors like Shahrukh Khan actually speak up this time? Your guess is as good as ours.

Comments

  1. Tired Narendra Modi, a man with a mental imbalance while completely unable to manage the country, his work is to mislead the Indian people by enacting religious provocative laws. I think Indians are very intelligent and community oriented. They will not support Narendra Modi’s madness.

  2. This is not right… any law made should consider all race and religion…. this is where international countries should interfere and trust me if it was in one of the Muslim countries than till now Trump would had started his sanctions… sonu sir one time you spoke about loud speaker and many Muslim hated you but I still support you…please raise your voice and show Khan you are not racist..
