Pakistan was shaken to the core with the high-profile kidnappings of 20-year-olds Bisma Saleem and Dua Mangi last year. Both of them were kidnapped in an almost identical manner. As per reports, the girls were in DHA Karachi at the time of their kidnapping and they were abducted by a group of 4-5 men.
While the girls were kidnapped for ransom, the attitude of the general public had been changing regarding the Sindh Police. In particular, most of the people believed that no actions had been taken by the police to resolve the matters.
As a result, thousands took to the streets to protest against the apparent delay in Dua’s recovery.
On Wednesday, March 18th, Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon disclosed that a former policeman and 4 of his partners were involved in these high-profile cases.

While Zohaib Qureshi and Muzaffar alias Mozi have been arrested, warrants to locate former ASI Agha Mansoor, Shakeel and Kamran alias Kami have been issued. The culprits confessed to their crimes during an interrogation.
According to the chief of police, the gang had also been involved in other criminal activities. The culprits Qureshi and Mansoor came up with the plan of the kidnapping. They claimed to have been inspired by a movie.
The police officer and his gang used modern technologies to hide their identities while kidnapping the two girls. They used a rented apartment in DHA to keep the abducted individuals.
Ghulam Nabi Memon claimed that police had been trying really hard to solve the cases, and that they had utilized all the resources. Even though the public was under the impression that the police were not conducting their job.
It was a challenge for us, but we utilised all the resources of the law enforcement agencies to resolve the crime.
He says the criminals were not a part of any criminal party and that both Dua Mangi and Bisma Saleem will be provided protection.

It is heartening to see that the culprits have been identified in Dua Mangi and Bisma Saleem’s kidnappings. The citizens of Karachi have long demanded that an example is made of these kidnappers so that future incidents of a similar nature are stopped.
