We haven’t seen Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra in ages. But now it seems that the wait is coming to an end. We’ll get to see them together in Jabariya Jodi.

A Rocky Road for the Two Stars
The two actors have been on a hiatus since their respective films tanked in 2018 with Sid’s Aiyaary and Parineeti’s Namaste England.
Since his teen drama Student of the Year catapulted him to stardom, Siddharth Malhotra hasn’t been able to replicate his success in subsequent movies. He has tried his hand at various genres with Baar Baar Dekho, Brothers, Kapoor and Sons, but with no luck.

Recently Parineeti’s scored with a short appearance in Kesari. She still needs a bigger win though.
With that in mind, the two Indian heart-throbs paired up for a quirky, wacky kind of romantic comedy.
Based on the trailer, Siddharth Malhotra plays Abhay Singh, a gangster who goes after people who are asking for dowry (think Indian Robin Hood but for dowry).
Parineeti Chopra plays Babli Yadav, a badass woman who decides to take on this gangster (no innocent Lady Marian here).
Together, they are a Jabariya Jodi?

Bollywood needs to go a long way when it comes to understanding consent. In most films, the hero is out to force his lady love to get hitched. This recurring theme was seen in Badrinath ki Dulhaniya (2017), Ram Leela (2013), Kabir Singh (2019), etc.

Will Jabariya Jodi, continue this trend? The title itself literally meaning ‘unwilling couple’. This time around Babli Yadev is trying to rope Abhay into a forced marriage.
Abhay has other aspirations. He wants to be an MLA (Minister of Legislative Assembly, an Indian term for parliamentarians), He doesn’t have time for marriage.
Jabariya Jodi cast includes Sanjay Mishra, Aparshakti Khurrana and Javed Jaffrey.
Given the movie is set in Bihar, it seems that both artists have their dialects down.
As for the film’s humor, it comes across as rather suggestive. We did spot some good cheeky one-liners in there.
