We have some bad news for Spiderman fans and it is breaking the internet.
According to media reports, Sony and Disney have failed to reach a new financial deal over the web-slinging teenager. This means that Spider-Man will no longer be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), provided that talks break down.

The New Deal
Following the success of the recent movies featuring Spider-Man, Disney proposed a new deal to Sony, who hold the movie rights to Peter Parker.
According to the new deal, future Spider-Man movies should be financed 50-50 by the two production giants. This also means both Disney and Sony will equally share the profits from upcoming Spider-Man movies. Moreover, Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios should also continue as consulting producer.
Sony however has other ideas. It rejected the deal and wanted to continue on the current terms, which give it a share of 5% of the total gross profits without sharing production costs.
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios had signed a deal in 2015 which allowed the latter to feature Spider-Man in its future movies. Tom Holland made his well-received debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

Is There Still A Chance?
According to Variety magazine, there is still some chance that the two production giants might come to terms.
The two recent releases, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, have been tearing it up at the box office. Avengers: Endgame emerged as the highest grossing movie ever, beating Avatar for the top spot.
On the other hand, Spider-Man: Far From Home became Sony Pictures’ most successful movie at the box office, overtaking Skyfall from the James Bond series.
