A food crime has been reported on social media as a South African Twitter account by the name of Food24 ruined every Pakistani’s favorite and most iconic dish – biryani.
Food24 attempted to ‘whip up’ a scrumptious biryani recipe for their fans but failed horribly and ended up creating a food travesty.
There is absolutely nothing better than a plate of biryani at the end of the day. It is the one dish anyone in Pakistan cannot say ‘no’ to.
The dish is not only popular in Pakistan or the sub-continent but all around the world as well. With a simple age-old recipe that is timeless, anyone can make a good plate of biryani. However, which place that has best biryani is debatable (Editor’s note: Karachi biryani all the way!).

Recently, in an attempt to ‘impress’ desi peeps like us, a South African food channel by the name Food24 decided to share an “easy-to-make” biryani recipe. The so-called biryani created by this ‘gora’ chef is a bizarre mix of khichri/stew that no one wants.
Here is the video (Warning, this video is not for faint-heart biryani lovers among us):

To top it off, this chef just took a ‘nawala’ with a papadum!?
Needless to say, this may be the first biryani (or a khichri with an identity crisis) that we all can say no to. However, this video united Pakistanis and Indians as well as all biryani lovers. People on social media were shocked to see this channel pass this ‘travesty’ off as a ‘traditional biryani’. The reactions on Twitter range from hilarious to cringe to just pure rage. Check it out:

White people at @food24 : there is no such thing as bonelsss Biryani and this video isn’t biryani, it’s disgusting. Who cooks chicken in raw onion? At least take the time to make the onion slightly golden before you dump stuff to it. And no, no spices in rice. WHO IS YOUR CHEF??? https://t.co/OmNQXb8AsJ

For the love of God and all that is pure, DELETE THIS. IT'S A LOT OF THINGS BUT BIRYANI AIN'T ONE OF EM.

Are you sure this is not a improvisation on @webmd's tea recipe. This is closer to that tea than this is to Biryani.

At least Food24 acknowledged their mistake and apologized to everyone for their mistake. Here is there response.
We’ve heard you. We got it wrong, and we’re sorry.
We will remove the video and would like to make a #BiryaniTogether — to all recipe developers and chefs who would like to work with us on a traditional recipe, please make contact with us and let’s do it #together.
