Fans of these actors are shocked that they still haven’t bagged an Oscar win.

This year’s Oscars were a pretty colorful affair, and we just don’t mean it literally.

We had Rami Malek, an Egyptian-American who won Best Actor. We also had Regina King, a black woman who bagged the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Mahershala Ali, an African-American, won the Best Supporting Actor award as well.

Hollywood went inclusive with movies like Roma, Green Book and Black Panther taking home Oscars.

The Favorite took home the Oscar for best actress. What many don’t know is that The Favorite is Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos’ first English endeavor.

Despite a historic Oscars 2019, Hollywood’s biggest night has not honored some of the most extraordinary artists in the biz.

At least Leonardo DiCaprio only got an Oscar in 2015 for The Revenant. That’s one Oscar after five nominations and after over almost three decades in Hollywood.

Here some other legendary Hollywood actors that still don’t have an Oscar.

1. Tom Cruise

This man is known for films like Mission Impossible and Top Gun. His Oscar nominations were for movies Born on the Fourth of July, Magnolia and Jerry Maguire.

Despite being one of the most famous faces in Hollywood he still doesn’t have an Oscar.

2. Robert Downey Jr.

Iron Man actor Robert Downey Junior has had issues with drinking earlier in his career. However, he overcame those and has done some pretty impressive movies so far.

At the beginning of his career, he did films like Chaplin. He then played an African-American in Tropical Thunder. And yet, that Oscar continues to elude him. Perhaps he will be finally honored among Hollywood actors with Oscars once we know how Avengers: Endgame concludes.

3. Johnny Depp

One of the most original artists in all of Hollywood, Johnny Depp is a man of many talents.

He changes everything from his voice to his gait to bring a character to life. That’s why characters like Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, Jack Sparrow, Mad Hatter and Charlie from the Chocolate factory are synonymous with his name.

He was nominated for an Oscar for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Finding Neverland and Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. It still continues to elude him.

4. Glenn Close

Alex in Fatal Attraction to Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians, Glenn Close has had an extraordinary career of four decades.

Even though the actress was nominated for an Oscar eight times, she has not won it so far.

5. Charlie Chaplain

The black and white era comedian that made us laugh for ages, its a shame that Charlie Chaplin was not honored with the biggest award there is during the time he was alive.

He was finally given an honorary Oscar in 1972 for ‘making motion pictures the art form of the century’.

We are as surprised as you are that some of these famed Hollywood actors have still not gotten an Oscar. Maybe they will get lucky like Leo, given enough time.

Comments

  1. It’s all a popularity contest anyway, so they’ve probably pissed too many folk off over the years, otherwise they would have one, or a couple. And the people that vote on these things probably have their own axes to grind, so who knows if they will ever get one, unless it’s an “honorary” one. One thing is for sure- Cary Grant, Marilyn Monroe, Fred Astaire, Greta Garbo, Myrna Loy, Irene Dunne, Rosalind Russell, Bob Hope, Robert Mitchum, Kirk Douglas, Marlene Dietrich, all never got one, and never will!

  2. Oscar awards has become so diversified lately rhat it has overlokked and failed to recognize great performances from truly great talents.

Just a personal view from a conservative like me.
