As Imran Khan makes problematic statements, yet again, Netizens call out his sexism. Even Mathira slammed the former prime minister. Who else called out Imran Khan’s sexist statements?
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman made misogynistic remarks about Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz, while addressing a rally in Multan yesterday. His choice of words were somewhat like;
“Someone sent me a clip on social media of Maryam’s speech, somewhere. In that speech, she took my name with such passion that I would like to tell her: Maryam, please be careful, your husband may get upset because you were constantly repeating my name,” said the PTI Chair.
The instance he was referring to was when the PML-N Vice took his name some five times while addressing a rally.
Along with many other Netizens, social media influencer Mathira slammed the former premier for his sexist comments. She called out how unprofessional Imran Khan’s comments were.
“Is this is a gossip session or a jalsa. How can you talk about a woman like thus! Why blame-game, taunt-game or bully the opposite party, why! Seriously this was very stupid move.”
On the other hand, some Netizens even went as far as to say Imran Khan is becoming like Aamir Liaquat.

Activists like Amar Ali Jan pointed out how it was the PTI Chair who made sexualized comments about Maryam Nawaz.
The man who made sexualized remarks about Maryam Nawaz at a jalsa today is the same guy who said men who are not robots will be sexually provoked by vulgarity. You may call Imran Khan a master of U-Turns, but his misogynistic views have been consistent over the years.

To say people are disappointed is an understatement.
No, there is no justification for this. At all. You really ought to be ashamed of yourself if you think this is OK. https://t.co/b83e6XWpbU

Sadly, Imran Khan’s sexist ‘joke’ is very normal here. People share such jokes in their own homes & on WhatsApp groups without thinking twice. He deserves all the criticism he’s receiving & more, but I hope this makes everyone reflect.

Many women shared how it’s hard enough being a woman in Pakistan. Why does the PTI Chair have to make it worse?
It’s hard enough to be a woman in this country, but be a woman in the public sphere- this is why. Because men think it’s ok say whatever they want without any regard for decency. People defending this statement of IK’s really need to assess themselves.

You can be daughter of a three times PM, Vice President of party in power, belonging to an elite background, but still you will be target of cheap jokes of a manchild. Nothing can protect women from abuse in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Netizens also had to call out the reverse sexism that surfaced. Apparently people still think two wrongs make a right.
Imran khan giving birth to a child outside wedlock is not the fault of that child! She is a young girl now & has her individual rights. Posting her photos instead of this creep man who denied her as his daughter shows your mindset too. Shame on anyone not getting it.
