Woman Files Petition To Stop The Final Episode Of ‘Mere Pass Tum Ho’

Woman files petition against the show over its negative themes.

Mere-Pass-Tum-Ho

The megahit drama serial Mere Pass Tum Ho continues to create a buzz nationwide. Though, not all publicity is good publicity. While some viewers are blindly in love with the show and its premise, there is a whole demographic of people who hate the show, its creator and what it portrays.

Recently, a petition has been filed in Lahore’s civil court to prevent the show from airing its last episode.

Humayun-Ayeza in Mere Pass Tum Ho

A woman, Maham, has come forward to file a plea to halt the last episode of the viral ARY drama featuring Ayeza Khan, Adnan Siddiqui, Hira Man and of course, everyone’s favorite Humayun Saeed.

She, with the help of her lawyer, has requested Lahore’s civil court to halt the airing of the final episode as it has had a negative impact and is continuing to downgrade the status of women in Pakistani society. The civil court, after hearing the arguments of Maham, has issued a notice to the creators and producers of the show for January 24, 2020.

It shouldn’t come as surprise as to why the petition has been filed. Pakistani drama industry has come long way towards empowering women with shows such as Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Most of the audience for drama serials are women, which is why Mere Pass Tum Ho feels like a step back. To some extent, the show has been portraying women in a negative light. Especially when it comes to the dialogue and script.

Case in point, the infamous “2 Takay Ki Aurat” line from the show. It generated a lot of discussion and opinions between people on social media. While some claim it to be a “bold” statement, others feel it is just flat-out demeaning.

Adding fuel to the flame, the show is written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, who says he’s a feminist. His remarks and take on feminism has already sparked outrage amongst women. For someone like his mindset to be at the helms of Mere Pass Tum Ho and writing such dialogues is just asking for trouble.

Mere Pass Tum Ho

The last episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho is set to be aired in cinemas on January 25, 2020. It seems very unlikely the petition will come to fruition due to the immense popularity of the show. What are your thoughts?

  1. “Mere pas tum ho” is a sheer wastage of time and resources on the part of the channel as well as the viewers. Do not understand what all the hype is about?
Who has ever come across a husband, so open minded who would take his wife’s betrayal so lightly as to invite his opponent, at home.
Adnan Siddique keeps on living in the same place where he is endlessly humiliated by his wife.
Ayeza Khan’s neighbor n more so his wife at once develop ampathy for her and take charge to resolve her problems.

  2. Very sad to know about this petition this is another side of the picture. several males are badly suffering in our society specially in urban areas where the characters of mehwish are commonly exist. Negativity exists every where regardless gender discrimination
