While police in this country do have a bad rap, let’s cut them some slack. Sometimes they have to face aggression from rich, privileged brats who believe that ‘money is above the law.‘ This is a real problem in Pakistan, with influential folks using their status to bully police. Now we have a woman whose video has gone viral for this exact reason.
Here’s what happened
A woman broke the signal at Khayaban-e-Hafiz in Defence, Karachi. When the Traffic Police tried to hand her a ticket, she started abusing them. Even when they pulled out their phones to capture video evidence the woman kept abusing the officers in a brazen manner.
Look at the attitude of this woman with traffic police. She broke the signal and then she kept abusing the officers even on camera. She shouldn’t have been only given ticket, she must be charged to assault the officers during duty. No one is above the law! pic.twitter.com/9b73gqeWXY

She openly boasted of her ability to pull connections and evade the law (for a petty traffic ticket really?).
Thanks to the footage, the authorities know that the woman’s license plate number is registered in Sindh.
I believe this is Khy Hafiz signal. I was once given a challan here for breaking the signal. Warden asked my NIC, License etc. I obliged & didn’t resist. He slashed 50rs from my challan cause of my behaviour

The woman’s behavior is a blatant example of how the privileged class evades the law, even going so far as to assault law enforcement officers.
There are various videos of the woman making rounds on the Internet.
One more video of that foul mouthed woman. She must be arrested to assault the officers on duty.
The incident happened somewhere in Karachi. Her language and attitude with the constables is intolerable.
I repeat, no one is above the law. pic.twitter.com/RQRxGO2ydk— Shama Junejo (@ShamaJunejo) November 26, 2019
There is a lot of public outrage on the issue, calling for the woman to be held accountable.
She must be fined for her existance not just signal violation

Netizens even did some digging and pulled up the vehicle’s registration details. This should help speed up the process of accountability.

Rather than acknowledge that the problem is an attitude of ‘money above the law‘, some people turned this into a gendered debate.

One man had to explain how this is a societal issue. No one should be above the law. That would mean civil security is a sham.
Thank you for your attention. I just wanted to portray that in society, every type of people exist. I’m feminist too. Being in patriarchial society, most of the time males misbehave but sometime some women contribute a little too.

Don’t you see in various instances that money is above the law here in 🇵🇰? They just pretend that there is no powerful above the law.

Then there were voices that just brushed it off and defended the woman. So basically it happens all the time so it’s not a bad thing anymore?

There has to be respect for the rule of law. And it should be equal for all.
