Yasir Hussain Says Esra Bilgic Shouldn’t Work For Pakistani Brands

Thoughts?

We all know where the Ertugrul craze is going in Pakistan. The series and the cast have been continuously going viral on Pakistani social media and we can tell how much the locals are enjoying it.

The leading lady of Dirlish Ertugrul, Esra Bilgic has also been the center of attention lately. She has expressed her love for Pakistani fans more than often and also showed her interest in working in Pakistani productions.

After giving us some hints, the Turkish actress just recently became the brand ambassador of a Pakistani mobile brand QMobile. The news came from QMobile’s Facebook page over the weekend.

Yasir Hussain expresses his displeasure

While fans are thrilled to see her in the ad campaign for a Pakistani brand, actor Yasir Hussain is not happy with the situation.

We all know how Yasir Hussain, Shaan Shahid, and a few others expressed their displeasure on PTV’s decision to air Ertugrul in the first place.

However, this is going too far now as the Jhooti actor doesn’t approve of Esra Bilgic as the brand ambassador for QMobile.

One may ask, what’s his reason behind this reaction? The actor asked opinions from other actors in the fraternity as well by tagging them on his Instagram story.

Yasir Hussain doesn’t support QMobile’s decision to hire Esra Bilgic as their brand ambassador.

It seems that Yasir Hussain’s nationalistic spirits are stopping him from understanding the whole situation. No worries, we are here to make it simple for him.

Brands and companies always hire celebrities or viral personalities that make them good money. Whenever a television couple gets hits from their viewers, they are often sought by brand names and hence it becomes a ‘sensational’ piece of news.

Given his argument that only Pakistani celebrities should have the privilege of representing Pakistani brands, many local labels have signed popular Bollywood celebrities for their products and made a huge profit out of it.

Mobile phone brands like Oppo and QMobile have always hired Bollywood celebrities for their ad campaigns, resulting in more exposure and sales of their products in their target markets.

Moreover, other Pakistani brands and fashion labels have also worked with various Bollywood celebrities in the past.

Nargis Fakhri for Elan.
Priyanka Chopra for Fahad Hussayn.
Fawad Khan and Sonam Kapoor for Tarang after the premier of their film ‘Khoobsurat’.

Sonam Kapoor for Firdous.
Bilal Ashraf and Nargis Fakhri for Jazz X QMobile.

Kareena Kapoor with Faraz Manan.
Jacqueline Fernandez with Zainab Chottani.

Karishma Kapoor for Crescent Lawn’s 2013 ad campaign.

Aisha Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui for Kenwood.

Kareena Kapoor for Magnum.

Similarly, Pakistani celebrities have also signed with Indian brands and have worked with various Indian designers in the past. There weren’t many instances of course, but it shouldn’t be neglected either.

Fawad Khan with Ileana D’Cruz for Clear Shampoo (India).

Are Pakistani Celebrities at Risk of Losing Their Jobs?

So we know that brand endorsements and ad campaigns hire celebrities who have a big name. This not only increases their popularity, but also earns them more money. And of course, celebrities too benefit from it.

And this is totally fine. Brands can hire whoever they want in order to make a lasting impact on its customers and other competitors in the field. This is why advertising agencies and brands are always battling to have the famous actress/model sign up as their brand ambassador.

This doesn’t mean that Pakistani celebrities are at risk of losing their jobs or that there aren’t any ad campaigns left for them. Similarly, Esra Bilgic becoming a brand ambassador for QMobile’s latest mobile series won’t jeopardize Pakistani actors/models in any way.

But it seems that Yasir Hussain doesn’t want to look at that side of the picture. In fact, a few other members of the fraternity also seem to dislike QMobile’s actions. Actresses Aiman Khan and Minal Khan and filmmaker Rafay Rashdi fully agree with Yasir’s stance.

Whereas Armeena Khan and Hassan Hayat Khan have their own opinions on the matter.

  1. I’m a fan of these actors –> Yasir, Minal, Aimen
But I don’t agree with their opinions. They are spreading negativity this time. We should welcome the foreigners in our country as we welcomed indians before. There is no harm if Turkish actors will do some pak campaigns. Infact this step will make our relationship stronger.
