FIA Revives ‘Hack-Proof’ Pakistan Steel Mills Corruption Case

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned officials who previously conducted inquiries into alleged theft, corruption, and mismanagement at Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), where reported losses have been estimated at Rs. 284 billion.

The summons is part of an ongoing investigation being carried out by the FIA’s Corporate Crime Circle under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

According to official correspondence, FIA has directed the focal person of Pakistan Steel Mills to ensure the appearance of the concerned officers before the investigators.

12 officials have been called in connection with six major incidents that were previously investigated at the state-owned steel producer.

The agency is reviewing earlier inquiries as part of its broader effort to determine responsibility for the alleged financial losses and identify any potential money laundering violations.
