We had reported back in May 2008 that Wi-Tribe is planning to enter into WiMAX market in Pakistan, after Wateen and Mobilink. Then the news came that Motorola signed a multi-year WiMAX contract with wi-tribe Pakistan limited – and now we are to break this news that Wi-tribe is in process of starting its operation soon. They have turned ON their towers and are testing their equipment these days.
As per reliable sources, they will come up with soft launch soon in major cities.
Reportedly, they are using Motorolla CPE ( CPEi 750 ) for their Wimax network. Wateen is using CPEi 600 and CPEi 300 for their Wimax Network.
It merits mentioning here that wi-tribe Pakistan Limited is a joint venture between Qatar Telecom (Qtel) and Saudi Arabia’s A.A. Turki Group of Companies (ATCO). wi-tribe is also aiming to deliver instant wireless broadband connectivity from North Africa across the Middle East and up to Asia (AMESA region).
We know that Wateen and Mobilink failed to leave an impression for broadband solutions, but comptition will of course build more pressure on operators to provide services in competent manner. Let’s hope for the best!

guys, please try to understand that technology takes time to get its roots as well as having the operations smooth. So don’t blame big players like Wateen and Mobilink for not being able to leave the impression. Appreciate the fact that Pakistan turned out to be the first ever country in the world to experiment WiMAX on such a large scale, courtesy Wateen and Mobilink. So let’s, for a change, be positive and less critic about things and understand that even GSM took 10 years to get rid of network congestion and prepaid deduction issues. one should only comment when one is capable of. and capability demands first for the commentator to be professionally mature and being able to realize that lifecycle of a new product/organization requires time to get settled after the wear n’ tear stage.

I don’t expect much from WiTribe. 3.5 GHz band has severe coverage issues. Unless they come up with very agressive cell plan their WiMAX coverage will remain a big bottleneck.

Salam guys well let me tell you something very usefull about wi-tribe, they have done their home work very well indeed. for them ahead is the example of wateen and infinity, they know the areas where they failed but by creating hypes, managed to overcome those weaknesses for a while, their users know how misreble the customer services really is, wi-tribe worked a lot on providing level best customer services. on the other hand they wi-tribe hired their every single employees on permanent bases,which shows they are focusing more towards quality rather than quantity.

yes the device is worth above 10000 which is being given free though packages may have to change to become cheaper as they dont seen impressive yet but world call is giving their device for 4500 which I heard is about to be raised soon….

Are there any chances of the charges being reduced as I find them high for soft launch, If they focus on making customers at the moment and give away the good services at reasonable price and quality to match it I think then they can truly succeed as was expected from them before soft launch

I am their test user and my cousin has just bought their services on soft launch the packages they are offering are higher than expected.
People wanna go for their serices but are not willing to pay this much … at least not at the moment on soft launch they should reconsider on their prices although the motorolla cpe device itself is costly which they are providing free thats still an added benefit

World call I guess were the promotors of wireless devices / services. We are users of World call for a very long time, they offer decent packages. The Browsing speed of World call eVdO 512 K is ok but downloading speed of files such as mp3 or viewing a You-TuBe segment/clip is at times very slow and there are many pauses and cause irritation.
In this regard could some tell/advise what is the downloading speed of Wi-Tribe device? Syed Ali-DHA PH 5 KHI
wi-tribe is good service but not like Wateen. because Wateen is Number One.
