Xiaomi Launches Beefed Up Variant of the Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi is perhaps the best known around the world when it comes to delivering value under a budget and the latest Redmi Note 4 phone will likely carry that forward.

Design and Display

The new phone comes with a large 5.5” IPS display with FHD 1080p resolution. It has a 2.5D curved glass on the front, while the aluminum design itself will be a plus for any mid-range phone. No other company releases phones in this price range with a metal body.

Internals and Memory

Underneath, you’ll get the slightly under-powered but more efficient 14nm Snapdragon 625 processor. It will be accompanied with RAM and storage combinations of 2 GB/32 GB, 3 GB/32 GB and 4 GB/64 GB. Adreno 506 will be handling the graphics in the Redmi Note 4.

Camera and Battery

The back camera boasts a 77-degree wide-angle 13 MP CMOS shooter, with PDAF and a dual-tone LED flash. Below the camera setup sits the fingerprint scanner. The front camera on the other hand features an 85-degree 5 MP CMOS shooter.

The phone supports dual-SIM via a hybrid dual-SIM slot. The Redmi Note 4 unfortunately runs the older 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8. The battery features a large 4,100 mAh unit and is promised to last up to 2 days. It is set to bring an improvement of 25 percent over its predecessor, the Redmi Note 3.

Price

Pricing is set at $146 for the base variant, $161 for the 3 GB memory variant, or $190 for the top-end model with 4 GB RAM. Under those prices, the Redmi Note 4 is likely going to be one of the most formidable budget offerings in the market.

    • Qmobile is already diminishing since the rise of smart phones. All that market share Q mobile was carrying was because of their lower end sets.

      • I am currently using Redmi Note 3 and it has SD650 so SD625 is technically a downgrade FYI

        • how is the camera result of the note 3 can you show some results,,, i am thinking to buy note 3… like upload a video to youtube and share the url or directly msg me the pics and video thanks and looking forward…

        • Agreed. I have a Redmi Note 3 Pro (Special Edition aka Global Edition, Taiwan model) and it has SD650…an upgrade would be SD652, the 625 is a definite downgrade

          • anyway to get covers for this model as I have same model I ordered from Aliexpress but those were for normal note 3

            • Search AliExpress for this:

Lenuo music II Series Leather Back Cover Case For XiaoMi Redmi Note 3 PRO Special Edition 5.5 inch Phone Bag Cover case

This case is made for the Taiwan (Kate) model specifically

        • SD 650 is based on 28nm Technology and SD 625 is based on 14 nm Technology so the battery life is much better on SD 625 and performance wise you won’t notice any major difference.

          • 625 with 4GB RAM version is scoring 62k on Antutu whereas 650 with 3GB RAM version is scoring 78K on Antutu

            • If you compare speedtest than you found SD 650 is superior about 1 or maybe 2 seconds but that’s not a noticeable difference but in terms of battery life the SD 625 is much better because of 14nm technology.

              • I was just considering the power, I know benchmarks are just reference numbers, I have seen the key notes of Note 4 and explanation of 14nm technology. Battery life of RN3 on MIUI was great then destroyed it in MIUI 8

  • Not much upgrade from Note 3. With note 4 now 625 snapdragon as compare to note3’s 650, its antutu score will be lower than Note 3. Rest of specs are also identical.

And the biggest problem, we don’t have f****in xiaomi in Pakistan. So there. ……
