Top Five Fuel Saving Cars in Pakistan

As the prices of fuel keep hiking- people look for fuel efficient cars that deliver quality at lower prices. We thus decided to line up cars based on their fuel mileage only. Here is the list of top 5 fuel saving cars that Carmudi has shortlisted according to their mileage:

Chevrolet Spark EV- 48 km/l:

Chevrolet

This car with a massive 1 speed automatic transmission system powering the car with a horsepower of 130 provides serious class. The car comes with 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, 360 airbags, automatic air conditioning, Abs traction control and cruise control.

All of these are further paired with a mesmerizing fuel efficiency of 48 km/l. This car will also make a world record and thus makes the first spot on our list. It is expected to hit the local market in mid 2015.

Toyota Prius- 26km/l:

Toyota Prius

This car is the queen when it comes to excellent fuel mileage. This hybrid car has captured a large customer base within a short span of time. The car has a 1.8l engine with a horsepower of 134 and goes up to 60mph in lesser than 9.8 seconds. This is very impressive keeping its fuel efficiency in mind.

The car travels up to 26 km in one liter and that is a bliss for any driver. The car is also spacey, seats 5 individuals comfortably and has a huge boot space for luggage. To conclude, it’s a must buy for all families who prefer to travel in class and economy. For these reasons the car made it to the second spot on our list.

Honda Civic Hybrid 18km/l:

Honda Civic

Civic has always been one of the most loved cars of the century- fuel consumption has however always been an issue with this car. Honda fixed this issue and launched this hybrid beauty that gives an average of about 18. That is hugely impressive for the civic series and this fact has amazed and invited a huge consumer base.

Due to the extremely positive feedback received, we have placed this beauty number three.

Honda City- 16km/l:

Honda City

This beauty with a 1.3l engine is preferred by all families for its quality drive and serious fuel saving. The car has serious good looks with smooth edges and curves. This car meets the new era in class and with extravagance.

Porsche Cayenne Hybrid 14km/l:

Porsche Cayenne

Porsche created this car in answer to the Lexus RX450h. This car provides a whopping horsepower of 333 with its V6 engine. This engine can be used alone or with the electric motor.

The car goes from 0-60 mph in lesser than 6.2 seconds. Technically this power horse should consume a lot but when combined with an aggregate mileage of 14- the car is more than perfect. Due to this reason the car comes fifth on our list. It is available at the Porsche Center in Lahore.

While I do not disagree with the list but I am surprised that some of the efficient cars are missing. Mehran, whether we like it or not, is very fuel efficient car that provides between 18km/l to 25km/l fuel.
Similarly vehicles like Daihatsu Mira also quite efficient, providing up to 20km/l fuel mileage and these cars are better in drive quality than Mehran.
Why are these missing from the list is a bit weird.

First, Chevrolet Spark is not in Pakistan. Second, talking about Toyota, Honda and then jumped to Porsche. This article is not balanced.

  • Rafay Qureshi

Sorry but this article does not make any relevance with Pakistan as there are cars in this article that you don’t even get to see in Pakistan!

  • Ray

    Honda City
It comes within an affordable price range of PKR 15,000,000 to PKR 17,000,000 as compared to other brands.

That’s just a subtle way of saying “Paid post”.

  • Fakhre Alam

nice effort. please make the list of st least top 20.

  • Taha Najam

No you can’t. One because Android Auto is just another vaporware by Google that will never see the light of day. And secondly, most car manufacturers use proprietary (locked) software solutions in their cars. A lot of these are powered in the backend by Blackberry’s QNX CAR Application Platform. Apple’s CarPlay interface runs on top of the QNX kernel as well. Another major player in this field is Microsoft with their Auto embedded OS running on the Windows CE kernel. It is used in KIAs and Ford’s SYNC platform.

    • Amir

Android Auto was just a humorous example to relate this topic to IT. Anyway, thanks for sharing such useful info. I really didn’t know much about these devices.

  • Ahmed Habib

Shame on propakistani admin and team… pesay ly ky website ki theme hi bech di wahhh,

  • A man

And how would you relate this article to telecom

  • imharoon

How can a fully electric vehicle (Chevrolet Spark EV) that runs on batteries and does not use any kind of fuel be rated as 48 km/l?

  • imharoon

How can a fully electric vehicle (Chevrolet Spark EV) that runs on batteries and does not use any kind of fuel be rated as 48 km/l?

  • Faheem

this article is SERIOUSLY good one ;)

  • nad

Useless comparison, because u r not calculating the electric cost ., they are EV and they are running on both fuels and only on electric most of the time so obviously 44 km per litre is not only on petrol .
    :)

  • Asim

Spark EV is an all electric car .. how can it give 48km in 1 “Liter” unless you mean 1 “Liter” of electricity :p :p :p

  • Ali

Guy started from Choverlet then ended up on Porsche … Do you really think that the one who can buy a Porsche Cayenne would even think for a split second about petrol average … a certain class in Pakistan buys these cars and they are least concerned about petrol average or pricing

  • Guest

Chevrolet Spark EV I cant seem to find this car anywhere online on pakwheels etc. What does it cost? I could only find the LS version.

    • Zahid Ali

By end of december you can see Porsche Cayenne S E Hybrid in pakistan just 1 liter fuel you can drive it 30 km its plug in technology you can also drive it purely on electric drive too a full charge can you about 30 km ride.

  • Hammad Khan

The price mentioned for Honda City is Rs 15,000,000 to 17,000,000. Shouldn’t it be Rs 15,00,000 to 17,000,000?

  • Geekpk

article by carmudi :D no no we dont do paid articles really which have no relevance to Pakistan.

  • Motorhead

How many of these are actually in Pakistan in numbers? Uhh…city…uhh…some prius and thats it.
If you count prius, then there are better cars out there that can be imported and are non-hybrid and then they are more fuel efficient than all these here.
Such a stupid list. Maybe just to fill a page?

  • Muhammad Rizwan

nice post but not all cars available in Pakistan and they must be fuel efficient but a common man cannot buy one of these.
I just want to ask ” why not we boycott mehran and carry dabba?”

  • Taimoor Irfan

When talking about hybrids one commendable car you forgot to mention is Toyota aqua I am surprised its not on your list. The worst I have heard it do is 25km/l. It is now widely available in Pakistan you might want to consider updating this. But overall a helpful review, thanks

  • You forgot the Aqua, one of most fuel efficient car in less price tag, giving around 35km/liter with all professional features, new Japanese imported car cost 16-17 lac, also Vitz give you 15-16 KM/l mileage.
