Xiaomi Announces the Pro version of the Redmi 3

You can never perhaps fulfill your dream of buying a full-fledged high-end phone in the same price tag as ones seen in Mainland China but what you can do is hope. Here’s another such from, courtesy of Xiaomi, which is back with the Pro version of its new Redmi 3 smartphone.

The phone, which comes with additional few features like the 3 GB worth RAM, increased 32 GB storage and a fingerprint scanner will be available for a price of $140.  As we covered before, Cheezmall is bringing Xiaomi phones at international prices so maybe there’s a shot of the Redmi 3 Pro being available too.

The phone comes with the same 5” display with 720p resolution. The design has the same metallic finish in grey, silver and gold.

Under the hood, you’ll get octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor, with its four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 Ghz, and another four at 1.2 Ghz. The same 13 MP back and 5 MP front cameras are retained. You get a new fingerprint sensor around the back this time.

The phone comes with support for support for dual-SIM connectivity and 4G LTE. The phone’s OS is a variant of Android 5.1 Lollipop. The cherry on top comes in the form of a large 4,100 mAh battery.

As said, pricing is set at $140 when the phone hits the markets in the first week of April.

All the news regarding Xiaomi launch in Pakistan are fake. Xiaomi Mobiles are banned in Pakistan by PTA under the direction of Ministry of Interiors against the request of Security Agencies of Pakistan due to some tracking issues in Xiaomi based IMEI’s. Following is the email screenshot received by Type Approval department of PTA of This Month in which they said Xiaomi Mobiles are banned.

    • Ammar

But still you buy XIAOMI from abroad, and bought XIAOMI MI4 last year.

      • Ammar

But still you can buy XIAOMI from abroad, I bought XIAOMI MI4 last year.

      • Zafar

Yes you can bought Xiaomi from abroad and bring it to Pakistan by putting it into your pocket as an in use handset, but you cannot import Xiaomi phone in Pakistan as online purchase like from Aliexpress. It will be hold by customs and they will require NOC from PTA for clearance like every phone. And PTA will not give you NOC against any Xiaomi IMEI number.

I dont understand this crazy logic. xiaomi phones must be banned due to pressure from samsung or huawei otherwise they have no crazyware installed.

          • Muhammad Yasir

            agree

          • Zafar Abbas

Ban has been imposed by ministry of interiors not PTA itself, so there is no chance of Samsung or Huawei influence on this ban. PTA personnel even shown notification

            • AbdulB1

There are many fakes of xiaomi. And besides the company it self does not like to be called xiaomi outside of China. They call themselves mi. Probably that is the cause.

            • AbdulB1

              Show me pta notification please..

              • Zafar Abbas

Let’s wait till April 6th, before we reach a conclusion.

PTA usually approves handsets a week before its launch date.

        • Abid Ali
