Best IT Innovation Awards 2016 Now Open for Industry and Academia

Best Innovation Awards (BITA) are focused towards promotion of IT culture in Pakistan and to boost innovation in the sector. It is a competition organized by Frontiers of Information Technology (FIT) conference and sponsored by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and National Testing Service (NTS).

The purpose o the awards is to encourage unique ideas in the field and put up emerging talent against the brightest minds in the sector. BITA also plans to create a bridge between the industry and the education sectors for promoting innovation and supporting entrepreneurs.

As a platform, it provides opportunities for innovators to come up with new applications for IT and win huge prizes as well. The winners can get up to Rs. 1 million if their idea gets the top award. BITA 2016 calls on thinkers, innovators, students, academics and professional to take part, bring new ideas and get a chance at winning the huge prize.

Award Categories

BITA is looking for ideas in two categories; namely, Academia and Industry/ Self Employed. The former represents professionals working in the IT field while the lattr is for students and their faculty.

Professionals include anyone with a significant contribution to IT via their services. They must own or be employed at an IT related company. Self employed individuals will have to undertake that the information they are providing is correct. Academia category includes individuals from the sector including students and full-time faculty members.

Everyone will need to provide solid information regarding their occupation during the application process.

How to Apply

All applicants are required to complete and submit an application form. BITA requires applicants to provide contact details, qualifications details and work history. For submitting proposals, applicants will need to create an account at Easy Chair and submit the application form.

Deadlines and Schedule

All application proposals need to be submitted by September 30th, 2016. BITA will not entertain late applications.

A short list of approved proposals will be announced on November 15th, 2016. Following that. applicants will present their proposals for final evaluation on FIT Conference 2016, between 19th-21st December 2016. The FIT Conference will take place at Serena Hotel, Islamabad.


BITA will announce a winner in each of the categories i.e. Academia and Professional/self employed. Each category has a winning prize of Rs. 1 million.
