The Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS University), under the auspices of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), held its 12th Convocation at the Inam-ur-Rehman Auditorium on July 22, 2026.
Chairman of the Board of Governors (BoG) of PIEAS University and Chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar, graced the ceremony as the chief guest and conferred degrees upon 270 graduates in various disciplines of engineering and applied sciences.

Degrees were awarded in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Metallurgy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, and Computer and Information Sciences. The convocation was attended by Scientist Emeritus Dr. Inam-ur-Rehman (SI), members of the Commission, director generals, directors, distinguished faculty members, graduates, and their families.
Addressing the convocation, Chairman of the BoG of PIEAS University, Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar, first expressed his pleasure that female graduates constituted a significant proportion of this year’s graduating class, describing it as a reflection of the growing role of Pakistani women in science, engineering, and emerging technologies.

He said their achievements demonstrate that the nation’s daughters are making remarkable contributions to scientific advancement and are playing an increasingly important role in Pakistan’s national development.
The Chairman congratulated the graduating students on their academic achievements and encouraged them to embrace the unprecedented opportunities available in research, innovation, and emerging technologies. He stated, “Today, our young engineers and scientists have access to opportunities and platforms that previous generations could only dream of. I urge you to seize these opportunities and contribute to building a knowledge-based, innovative, and self-reliant Pakistan.”
The Chairman further emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and experience-based learning in shaping successful professional careers.

He remarked, “Do not limit your ambitions to seeking employment alone; aspire to become job creators through entrepreneurship.”
Highlighting the role of science and technology in national development, Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar reaffirmed PAEC’s commitment to strengthening higher education, advanced research, and human resource development through institutions such as PIEAS University. He said, “The future of Pakistan depends on the knowledge, character, and commitment of its young professionals. Wherever life takes you, serve your country with honesty, uphold its dignity, and become true ambassadors of Pakistan through your conduct.” He stressed that the graduating students should remain committed to excellence, integrity, and dignity throughout their professional careers.
Earlier, in her welcome address, Rector of PIEAS, Dr. Anila Usman, congratulated the graduating students and thanked the Chairman of the BoG and the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission for their continued support. She highlighted the outstanding employability and industry readiness of PIEAS graduates and noted that, in the recently released QS World University Rankings 2027, PIEAS ranked third among Pakistani universities and significantly improved its global standing to 560th among the world’s top universities.
She stated, “PIEAS remains committed to preparing future scientists and engineers through excellence in education, impactful research, and meaningful engagement with industry, enabling them to contribute effectively to Pakistan’s scientific and technological progress.”
