Islamabad Capital Territory Police Communication System (ICTPOLCOM) has officially been launched to maintain a complete record of criminals, crimes committed, information about criminals captured and release. The system will also keep records of departmental history of all the police constables and rest of the employees on daily basis.
The system contains all the data since 1st January, 2016 and can now be analyzed along with the insertion of new entries.
Tariq Masood Yasin, IGP Islamabad, said that modern technology has been adopted to ensure proper storage and usage of information. It will help monitor the criminal records and also maintain information of police officers and Islamabad Police employees.
High ranked officials such as IGP Islamabad himself and the likes of DIGs and SSPs can access the information on their smartphones and laptops round the clock.
The system can identify any improper usage and the person accountable can be traced immediately through computerized messages.
IGP Islamabad has given instructions for training and assigning a few officers to maintain this technical database and ensure its proper usage.
Deficiencies can be tackled very easily due to the efficiency of the system, said IGP Tariq.
Additionally, it will become possible to hand over computerized copies of FIR to the complainant with this system. This will end up saving time and costs as the ICTPOLCOM system becomes fully operational.
It should be mentioned that Islamabad Police is taking steps to make its law-enforcement capabilities high-tech. Under the Safe City initiative it has also deployed a high-end CCTV camera network to monitor law and order situation as well.
