Regular TV transmission in Israel was interrupted by hackers on Thursday, where hackers forced viewers to listen to Azaan, the Islamic call to prayers.
According to reports, hackers claim that transmission of two channels (Channel 2 and Channel 10) was abruptly interrupted. To add insult to injury, the incident happened during peak hours.
After the Azaan was aired, the channels’ transmission was halted and some Hebrew words followed on the screen.
Channel 2 confirmed the hacking news by uploading the video footage of when the Azaan was aired. In the foreground, photos of various holy mosques were being broadcast, including Al-Aqsa mosque.

The incident is said to be an act of retaliation against the Israeli government passing a bill which prohibits mosques in Israel the use of loudspeakers during Azan. The ban has drawn a lot of criticism with calls for it to be lifted from across the world.

Azan is a religious ritual and should never be banned at any cost. As a Muslim I feel regret. Hacker group wouldn’t have done that.
