Sumail Hassan Becomes the Third Highest Earning Gamer in the World

Sumail Hasan, the Pakistani prodigy, has become the third highest earning gamer in the world, following his success in Dota 2 over the last few years.

His total earnings have amounted to $2,401,560 after moderate success at a recent tournament, a feat which led him to become one of the highest earning gamers in the e-Sports industry. As the industry continues to grow rapidly, his future is even brighter if he can continue to perform like this.

Hailing from Karachi, the 17 year old started playing Dota ten years ago. He then moved to the US in 2014 to pursue a professional career in e-Sports.

In 2015, he became the youngest player to cross the $1 million earnings mark through tournament wins. He still holds the Guinness World Record for that achievement. His team ‘Evil Geniuses’ won the 2015 Dota 2 Asian Championship in 2015 and The International 5.

Influential Teenager

Known online as Suma1L, the 17-year old was also included in Time magazine’s most influential teenagers in 2016. Some consider Sumail as the best ‘mid’ player in Dota 2.

He has amassed over 30,000 followers on Twitter.

Other Top e-Sports Earners

The only two gamers who have earned more than Sumail are Peter Dager and Sahil Arora, both of whom are Dota players and are affiliated with ‘Evil Geniuses’.

Sahil has earned $2,720,623 throughout his Dota 2 career. He changed his team back in March 2016 to join ‘Team Secret’ but soon after he returned to his old team, the ‘Evil Geniuses’.

Perter Dager is the CEO of ‘Evil Geniuses’ and is known as ’Ppd’ online. He has earned $2,603,724 in his Dota 2 career. Following The International 2016, he decided to leave active competition to prioritize his managerial role with Evil Geniuses. However, he has not yet retired as a professional player from Dota.

Former EG player Clinton Fear Loomis and Wings Gaming’s Li Peng complete the top 5. Both are professional DOTA players as well.

If you are noticing DOTA 2’s dominance in video gaming circles, then you aren’t alone in this observation. The game is by far the biggest in terms of prize pools in e-Sports. An event last year, The International, featured a prize pool of over $20 million for the winning DOTA team.
