Following a string of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has finally unveiled arguably the best mid-range phone to date. Redmi Note 5 Pro is the better specc’d version of the Note 5, with dual cameras and a bezelless screen.
The display is the same 5.99″ panel we saw in the Redmi Note 5 (Redmi 5 Plus). It comes with FHD+ (2160 x 1080) resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio.
It features an all metal build with a fingerprint sensor on the back alongside a dual camera setup which looks quite similar to the iPhone X.
This phone comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor, with 4 power-efficient and 4 powerful cores. Compared to the Redmi Note 4 from last year (with Snapdragon 625) Snapdragon 636 powered Redmi Note 5 Pro is 20% faster and more efficient.

RAM is the main difference between the versions, with one coming at 4 GB and the other at 6 GB. The amount of storage is set at 64 GB which is expandable via a hybrid microSD/SIM card slot.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro runs MIUI 9 with Android Nougat.
The cameras are another point of difference between the Note 5 and Note 5 Pro. The latter’s back camera now comes with a regular 12 MP Sony sensor and a 5 MP Samsung-made depth sensor. There’s true-tone flash, too along with PDAF.
Up front is a 20 MP camera (also a Sony sensor) with an LED and several beauty filters.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro’s battery capacity is set at 4,000 mAh, along with fast charging support.
At a starting price of $219 for the 4 GB, and $269 for the 6 GB model, there’s little to argue about. It will be available globally in the coming few months.
