Vivo Apex, a prototype phone which was revealed a few months back, has an exciting design consisting of a display that is actually “bezel-less” with the highest screen-to-body ratio in a smartphone so far.
It was just a concept, however, Vivo may have other plans. The Apex is finally going to be launched for regular consumers soon and will be available within the next few weeks.
Vivo has unveiled its official poster for its upcoming Shanghai press event, which shows Vivo Apex along with the phrase”the future of smartphone is here.”
Some of the unique features of the Apex include a front camera in a retractable periscope-like drawer at the top, bone conduction speaker instead of an earpiece, and an on-screen fingerprint sensor. There’s no official confirmation, but this poster is a good indicator of Apex getting revealed next month.

Entering Production
Earlier, Vivo itself told the press that it would unveil a saleable version of the Vivo Apex in mid-2018. It’s expected to enter the mass-production stage during this time. Spec-wise, it has a 5.99-inch FHD+ (1080 x 1920 pixels) OLED panel, with an under-display fingerprint sensor.
The fingerprint sensor covers the lower half of the screen, users can simply touch their finger on the display, anywhere on the lower half, to unlock the phone.
Lenovo recently unveiled their own sketch for a bezel-less phone, with a screen-to-body ratio above 90%. There’s no word on where the company plans to house the various frontal sensors, including the camera, but so far Vivo’s retractable periscope iteration has been the most practical one yet.
