Samsung Launches Mid-Range Galaxy Wide 3

Samsung unveiled Galaxy Wide 3 for the South Korean market featuring low-mid specifications, and a design much similar to the well-known Galaxy J series. It does not follow the sweet bezel-less display trend, albeit comes with decent specifications for all those Samsung fans out there.

Design & Display

As you’d expect, the design is fairly simple with large bezels that house Samsung’s signature hardware button configuration, with the company’s latest icons for the back and menu button. The volume rocker looks modern, and is housed on the left edge of the phone.

The display is a 5.5-inch HD (720 x 1280) unit, an IPS LCD, with no edge-to-edge aesthetic.

Hardware & Storage

The Galaxy Wide 3 is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7870, octa-core, clocked at 1.6 GHz. RAM size is 2 GB.

It houses internal storage of 32 GB, which is luckily expandable via a microSD by up to 400 GB. All in all, the phone is a slight improvement over its predecessor, the Galaxy Wide 2.

Camera & Software

On the rear end, there’s a 13 MP f/1.7 shooter with pretty much basic features such as PDAF and LED flash. The selfie camera is more interesting, it has a f/1.9 aperture and can shoot 13 MP photos.

It gets Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, running Samsung Experience UI on top.

Battery, Price, & Availability

Wide 3’s battery size is 3300 mAh, as rest of the hardware is low-power over a relatively small display, Samsung went more towards battery-life on this one. Do note that the battery is non-removable.

It will soon hit the South Korean market, at a price of KRW 297,000 (~Rs. 29,000). There’s no word yet on whether it will get an international launch or not.
