Govt Announces Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays for 2018

As the holy month of Ramadan nears its end, its only natural that Muslims around the world would begin preparing for Eid-ul-Fitr.

In the same vein, The Government of Pakistan has announced official Eid holidays.

According to an official notification, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th June 2018 will be off days on account of Eid-ul-Fitr.

This means Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday (4 days) will be off for everyone in Pakistan.

The news comes after Pakistan Met. Dept announced that the Shawwal moon will be visible on June 15th (Friday), and will be difficult to view on June 14th (Thursday). This is only a prediction, as the weather is expected to be unfavorable for viewing the moon directly on Thursday.

If true, the moon would be sighted on June 15th (Friday) with Eid officially falling June 16th (Saturday).

The official holidays account for both possibilities.
