Xiaomi Redmi 6’s Screen is Durable Enough to Crack Walnuts [Video]

Walnuts may be tasty but cracking them open is a hassle, especially if you don’t have a nutcracker. Thankfully Xiaomi has thought about this problem beforehand and has made a phone that is capable of cracking walnuts open.

Xiaomi just published a video of a Redmi 6 cracking walnuts to show its durability – the test was done by company President Lin Bin himself as he cracks open walnuts using the recently launched phone’s screen.

As you’d expect, the Redmi 6 went unharmed through the test and did not crack throughout the video. Check out the video below,

Most Durable Budget Phone?

Xiaomi Redmi 6 was recently launched by the company for the low-budget midrange segment and comes in two different variants – the other version being the entry-level Redmi 6A. It features a 5.45-inch IPS LCD, 18:9 aspect ratio, at an HD+ (720 x 1440) resolution.

Xiaomi is among the few companies that offer a metal body for entry-level phones, so the results from the walnut-test are quite impressive. On paper, Redmi 6 does not have Gorilla Glass on it so it means the company used a different display protection solution. Still, it’s doing a fairly good job.

The company assured its customers that the new Redmi 6 has successfully passed a total of 14571 quality assurance tests – its durability is the same as Xiaomi’s high-end Mi flagship lineup. Moreover, the new model underwent strict part supplier screening with over 70% ruled out.

HMD Global posted a similar durability test video of a Nokia 6 cracking a bag full of walnuts, Xiaomi seems to have taken the cue and has done the same for the Redmi 6.
