Vivo has unveiled another midrange smartphone, called the Vivo Z1i. It is an upgrade over the Vivo Z1 announced almost a month ago.
There aren’t many major design changes – the new Z1i has a different chipset, a trimmed chin, and the same notched display.
Let’s take a look at what else the phone offers over its predecessor.
As you can see, the Z1i carries fairly trimmed bezels, a shiny glass back cover, and a cutout on the front to house various sensors and the selfie camera. The fingerprint sensor sits on the rear, on top of Vivo’s branding, while there are no visible antenna lines.
For the display, Vivo decided to add a gigantic 6.26-inch panel, at a 19:9 aspect ratio. The panel’s technology is LCD.
Inside, the company went with a downgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 (the Z1 had a 660) – RAM size is the same as before, at 4 GB.
Internal storage is at a whopping 128 GB, which is still expandable by up to 256 GB via a microSD slot in the hybrid SIM tray.
On to the interesting bits, the Z1i has a dual camera arrangement on its shiny rear, arranged vertically on the top-left much like the iPhone X, consisting of a 13 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor for portrait mode features. Selfie camera manages 16 MP selfies, with built-in AI support of course.
It’ll run Vivo’s proprietary Fun Touch OS on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. Z1i will have full AI and AR support, in addition to the company’s own digital assistant known as Jovi.
Battery size is going to be a 3260 mAh unit. The Z1i gets Vivo’s vibrant, shiny color options of Black, Gold, and Red accents. It has been priced at CNY 1898 (~Rs. 34,570), which is not bad for a premium looking device.
Though, you might want to check out Xiaomi’s Redmi 6 Pro if you are looking for something with a similar design and better specifications within a budget. Anyway, we don’t know when the Z1i is getting launched in Pakistan for now, it’s currently only available in China.
