Topsun Motors and Pak-China Motors Get Greenfield Status

Two new auto companies – Topsun Motors and Pak-China Motors – have confirmed their entry into Pakistan. They have been awarded Greenfield status by the government to set up their respective factories.

Both of the companies have been conferred a category-A Greenfield Investment status by the Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP).

Topsun Motors and Pak-China Motors are now legally allowed to assemble and manufacture vehicles in the country, so we might see their product on the streets in the near future.

Auto Policy Bearing Fruit

Ever since the government announced the 2016-21 Automotive Development Policy, a number of notable brands have opted for a local license to manufacture vehicles.

The entrants include both international and local brands, however, most of the new companies are from China.

Topsun Motors and Pak-China Motors have agreed to the state’s conditions in order to reach an agreement.

The companies are required to adhere to the clauses mentioned in the Auto Policy, and to manufacture their products while closely following the required standards.

Production Standards

The vehicle production standards have been set by the Engineering Development Board (EDB), which certifies a new entrant for manufacturing vehicles. The Board also provides companies with a list of allowed components for importing, and other impositions before a firm can start manufacturing.

Topsun Motors currently operates only in Punjab and usually deals with vehicles originating from European brands.

This is a developing story. We’ll continue to update it as new details come in.
