Following the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Saqib Nisar’s order to start the construction of Diamer-Basha and Mohmand dams in the fiscal year 2018-19, a bank account titled ‘Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dam Fund-2018’ was set up by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to collect donations from people living in Pakistan and abroad.
Huge donations have been made by Pakistanis, including the armed forces, CJP, Chairman Senate, Malik Riaz, Shahid Afridi and a number of celebrities to name a few.
The overall donations collected as of 31 July 2018 stood at Rs. 507 million (507,646,926). Within a couple weeks, Pakistanis have donated huge sums of money to help in the construction of a dam which is the need of the hour as a water crisis looms over the country. With reports suggesting that Pakistan may run out of the water by 2025, Pakistanis have taken on the challenge of proving the world wrong.
The total cost of the Diamer-Basha Dam is estimated to be around Rs 1,450 billion.
SBP has released the day-wise data for the donations collected till 30th July 2018. People of Pakistan have donated generously, putting their trust in CJP to use their donations for the national cause. Here is how the daily contributions stack up:

Is this true? Dams are some of the most expensive projects. On Wiki, it says the estimated cost of Diamer Bhasha Dam is $12.6 Billion.
it’s important to note that the dam will cost in $s. So the currency fluctuations will affect the actual cost in Rs. Pakistani are donating in Rs.

Dont start criticizing everything. I know these donations is not helpful in the least way. But it’s still a good initiative to realize we have a huge problem ahead & people care about dams. And this money will surely be used for dam.
When the time comes if it comes much of the money might have lined a few pockets. The prime minister is a fresh face in politics and he gives hope but the people still live by the old rules of entitlement and it will a feat if there is any money left to build a dam.
In a country where politicians and other rich people don’t pay taxes, that might be a place to start. I read somewhere that only about 10% of politicians pay tax.
Many of these politicians are much richer than those of European countries that send aid to Pakistan.

so if every citizen of pakistan give Rs 6905 than it will achieve the target

Dam can be constructed with public donations. We don’t need 1450 billion to start the project, rather this amount would be used in 5 to 10 years of project time. Aside from his politics, if someone trustful like imran calls and follows for donations, there would be lot more collection.
Propakistani should have a counter on their site showing the total collected so far. I believe it is now at Rs 0.812Billion in 1 month
Good idea. @stalal:disqus Such a counter would help you guys promote ProPaksitani as well. I assume data will have to be scrapped from the SBP website.
If there are 8 million oversea Pakistani and out of these only 3 million donate $1000 then we can collect 300 Billion while till to date in SBP donations there are around 2 billion in account. It can be done from our own resources in a span of 2 years….
$1000 is not a big deal for people in US, UK AND AUS…
