Xiaomi’s Upcoming Pocophone Leaks Point Towards a Mi 8 Inspired Design

Xiaomi has been on a roll recently, introducing impressive phones with varying price ranges. Now, they are rumored to release Pocophone F1 in the upcoming months. The rumored phone will be a budget model of the Mi 8.

The leaked images of the F1 shows that it will have a design similar to the Mi 8 with some changes. The front still has the wide notch on top of the screen while the bottom part of the display has a chin. On the back side, the dual rear-facing cameras are placed vertically beneath which is the fingerprint scanner and the LED flashlight is placed on the side.

The 3.5mm headphone makes a comeback on the Pocophone after it was removed on the Mi 8. It also includes a USB Type C port and dual bottom firing speakers but if it’s like any other phone from Xiaomi’s past, there’s only going to be a single speaker and a microphone at the bottom.

The back of the retail box was also leaked by a Romanian source showing some of the key specifications expected from the F1.

The box lists that the Pocophone F1 is using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Expandable storage is also an option with the F1 but only up to 400GB. To keep things cool, liquid cooling is also advertised with claims of “industry-leading thermal performance”

The front camera on the F1 is a 20MP sensor and also includes IR Face Unlock which will have to be tested out to see how accurate and secure it actually is. Powering all this is a 4,000mAh battery which should provide sufficient juice for a day’s usage and even if you do run out of battery, Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 3.0 is also available with the F1.

The above image shows the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 listed on a Romanian retailer with some more detailed specifications such as the dual-SIM support, the megapixel count of all the cameras etc. The listing was put up by accident and was quickly removed later. The price listed here is 1,999 RON which is approximately equal to $500 or PKR 62,000. This makes the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 the cheapest phone out there with an SD 845.

Moreover, a few people from Romania are claiming that the phone actually went on sale there. A user bought one and has shared pictures and video of the Pocophone F1 running AnTuTu Benchmark on YouTube, which gives a clear view of what the F1 is capable of.
