Qatar Planning to Set Up a Job Visa Center in Pakistan

A top delegation from Qatar is about to arrive in Pakistan today to discuss the paraphernalia of a job visa center for Pakistanis.

The delegation will also meet Zulfi Bukhari, special assistant to Prime Minister on overseas Pakistanis and human resource development, in this regard.

The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development will collaborate in establishing the visa center.

A few weeks ago, the Gulf state had announced to set up a job visa center to facilitate Pakistanis who want jobs in Qatar.

The Qatari Ministry announced to develop visa service centers in eight countries to facilitate citizens seeking employment opportunities in the Gulf state. A letter was dispatched by the Qatari Ministry to the PM special assistant in this regard.

As per the details, the country will launch visa facilitation centers in eight shortlisted countries to enable citizens of these countries to find potential employers in Qatar and secure a contract before even arriving there.

A visa center will make the recruitment process easier by allowing an applicant to ensure that they meet all the requirements before the contract is initiated.

Thus, these centers will ensure that no worker has to return to his/her country after being rendered unfit to obtain a residence permit in Qatar.

Visa centers will also protect the workers’ rights and prevent their exploitation at the hands of the employers and intermediaries. These will also speed up the recruitment and visa process.

It is pertinent to mention here that Qatar had announced 100,000 employment opportunities for Pakistanis in 2016. Around 9,706 Pakistanis went to Qatar on a work visa. Whereas in 2017, the number of Pakistanis working in Qatar rose to 11,592 and 13,697 Pakistanis have already secured jobs in Qatar in 2018.
