Huawei – one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world – has unveiled a new entry-level device called Huawei Y7 Pro (2019) in Vietnam.
The phone, in terms of design, resembles the recently launched Huawei P Smart (2019) but has lower-end internals instead. It has a water drop notch design, featuring a bezel-less display and dual cameras on the rear, and is among the cheapest new-age design phones in the market.
Design & Display
The Y7 Pro is available in a bunch of vibrant, gradient color designs with a shiny rear finish and a notched design. There’s no fingerprint sensor, as Huawei has decided to keep the cost low on this one while ensuring trimmed bezels and a “trendy” notch.
The display is a giant 6.26-inch LCD panel, featuring an HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio.
Hardware & Storage
Inside, the new Huawei phone is powered by a Snapdragon 450 chipset paired with 3 GB RAM and just 32 GB storage.
There are no additional memory variants, but luckily you’ll be able to expand the phone’s total storage via its microSD slot.

Camera & Software
The latest Huawei Y7 Pro features a dual camera set up at the rear, consisting of a 13 MP main camera and a 2 MP depth sensor for clean portrait mode shots. The selfie camera on the front is able to take 16 MP photos, and the camera app has been loaded with a bunch of beautification and photography features.
As there’s no fingerprint sensor, you can use the front camera for basic facial recognition. Software, by the way, is based on Android Oreo running Huawei’s latest EMUI skin.
Battery, Price, & Availability
The new entry-level phone features a huge 4,000 mAh battery, that should last long paired to Y7 Pro’s low-power chipset and battery.
Price is $170 at the day of launch, with color options of either Blue or Black. It’ll be hitting the stores on January 5, and early buyers can also get a Bluetooth speaker as a gift.
