Lost Glory: Here’s Mohammad Asif Destroying Best Batsmen in the World [GIFs]

Following his involvement in a spot-fixing scandal back in 2010, the magnificently gifted swing and seam bowler, Mohammad Asif, has been long forgotten.

After serving his punishment of imprisonment and suspension from the game, Mohammad Asif returned in action in 2016 in the third round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

The right-arm seamer was to serve a 7-year ban but International Cricket Council (ICC) showed leniency and suspended its previous orders and allowed Asif to play all formats of the game.

Mohammad Asif, despite occasional performances in the domestic circuit, has failed to make a comeback unlike his fellow compatriot, Mohammad Amir.

Now, 36-years of age, the chances of Asif making a comeback remain nearly impossible. However, tales of his impeccable ability will live on.

Let’s take a look at some of the most cracking deliveries he has ever bowled:

Asif vs. Sehwag and Dravid

Asif vs. Hashim Amla

Asif vs. VVS Laxman

Asif vs. Cameron White

Asif vs. Micheal Clarke

Asif vs. AB de Villiers

Asif vs. Kevin Pietersen

Asif vs. Andrew Strauss

Asif vs. Jacques Kallis

    • Dont be so harsh. He is paying off what he did.

But his bowling was the best we have seen in this era – We need to accept this.

    • There is no denying that the acts which were committed by Asif, Salman and Aamir were despicable. However, one should not be too quick to disregard them as cricketers. Cricket Australia have thoroughly backed Steve Smith and David Warner despite them being at the heart of ball tempering scandal. Their board is working to reduce their sentence so they can return to cricket.

Let it be clear that in no shape or form I am defending them. However, I do think that if they serve their punishment then they shouldn’t be criticized as if they haven’t paid for their mistakes.

  • We need to understand that our domestic structure is abysmal but somehow this kind of massive talent emerges from the streets of this country, ironically these kids are not mature and educated enough to decide the rights and wrongs at such high level. PCB must educate them through different programs but worst planning and incorrect direction of PCB is destroying the talent. Asif was a Gem if right direction would’ve given to him undoubtedly he would’ve been ranked amongst the Legends

    • HE IS STILL A LEGEND SIR. YOUR POINTS ARE VERY VALID PCB HAS ZERO PERFORMANCE AS FAR AS GROOMING AND POLISHING THE PLAYERS ARE CONCERNED THOSE COMING FROM EDUCATED FAMILY ARE DOING GOOD ITS NOT FAULT OF THE PLAYERS

  • HE WAS EXCEPTIONAL SWING BOWLER CRICKET WORLD WOULD EVER SEE HE WAS A MAGICIAN WITH THE BALL NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT
