Mir Hamza Sign’s County Championship Deal With Sussex

Pakistani left-arm pacer, Mir Hamza, is all set to join English county Sussex for this year’s County Championship.

The fast bowler will be available for a total of 9 first-class matches including 8 County Championship matches. Hamza will be available for the clash against Northamptonshire starting 20th May 2019.

Sussex will begin their campaign against Leicestershire on 5th April 2019, however, the 26-year old will join the team later.

Hamza made his Test debut against Australia at Abu Dhabi in 2018. In 59 first-class games, the left-armer boasts an impressive average of 18.34, taking 282 wickets with best of 7/59. His impressive numbers in the domestic circuit and for Pakistan-A earned him a maiden test call up last year.

Last year, Pakistani pacers, Mohammad Abbas and Wahab Riaz played for Leicestershire and Derbyshire respectively whereas Azhar Ali featured for Somerset. Mohammad Abbas has already renewed his contract with the Foxes for the 2019 season, thanks to his brilliant numbers in his first season for Leicestershire.

The County Championship provides Mir Hamza with the opportunity to claim his spot in the Pakistan test squad and it remains to be seen how he performs in favorable bowling conditions in England.
