Child Pornography Has Become a Business in Pakistan: DG FIA

The Director General of Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing, Captain (R) Muhammad Shoaib, has revealed that child pornography has become a business in Pakistan.

He made this startling revelation while speaking at a local TV channel on Wednesday.

Captain (retd) Shoaib said that child pornography is rapidly prevailing in the country and that the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing has received complaints both locally and internationally.

The DG FIA Cyber Crime said that they had arrested over 20 suspects involved in the heinous crime – some of them are in jail while a few have managed to get released on bail.

He added that most of them had links with international rackets.

The top FIA official further revealed that the over 50 suspects were also under investigations for their alleged involvement with the international child pornography rings.

Captain (retd) Shoaib stated that the crime was endless and they keep receiving complaints.

“Most of the complaints have solid proof, so we try to take them to court,” he added.

The cyber-crime chief stressed to create “awareness among parents and children as according to him, most suspects portray to be of the opposite gender or mere children on social media to lure the targets.”

It should be mentioned here that the cybercrime law envisages imprisonment for a term of up to seven years or with a fine of up to Rs. 5 million or both for a child pornographer.
